I tried printing out a couple of 4X6 borderless photos to check the print of the iP4000. The speed of printing was pretty good - it took only about 1 minute and 5 seconds for a 4X6 photo to come out. The colors on the photos were faithfully reproduced by the iP4000 - practically indiscernible from one developed from a photo printing kiosk.

Perhaps the only thing I dislike about the Canon Pixma iP4000 is that it is slightly slow to commence a print job. After you submit a print job, there's quite a bit of ink cartridge movement back and forth and you hear the sound of machinery moving about. The printer prints quickly, but it thinks about printing for a while. Of course, to be fair, this is a phenomenon found in all inkjet printers, as the inkjet head needs to prep up before starting the print. The printer comes with great connectivity options. There's a standard USB 1.1 port and a parallel port for connection to your computer. Plus, there's a second USB connector in front of the printer for printing from a PictBridge compliant camera. PictBridge is an industry standard that allows images to be printed directly from any digital camera or camcorder, regardless of brand name, without the need for a computer.

The Canon Pixma iP4000 has two possible paper loading options. One is a top-mounted auto sheet loader, whilst the other is an internal cassette in the bottom. Each paper trays can support up to 150 sheets of letter-size plain paper, as well as 4x6 photo paper, 5x7 photo paper, letter-size photo paper and #10 envelopes.
